Skye Gyngell

Skye Gyngell is a renowned chef, best known for winning a Michelin star during her time as head chef at Petersham Nurseries Café.

We were thrilled to collaborate with Skye on her own kitchen and feel very privileged to be part of such a personal project.

Skye spends a great deal of time in her kitchen and enjoys feeling connected to the world outside while she is in the hub of her home and work. For this reason it made sense for the kitchen to be repositioned at the front of the house and the rear room to become a ‘snug’.

The dimensions of the new space drove the design towards a long narrow island down the middle of the room, Skye’s Mercury range cooker is surrounded by plenty of worktop space for preparing food, and the kitchen offers ample room for storage. We suggested incorporating a built in window seat to make the best of the natural light and space available in the bay window - an ideal perch for watching the world go by!

Carrara marble worktops with extra high splashbacks contrast with the wooden floor, and special iron cupboard handles give a crisp, clean finish to her kitchen.

Once completed we received an email from Skye thanking us for her ‘beautiful kitchen, that she was ‘completely in love with’ and said, ‘The last couple of years have been creatively difficult for me as I haven’t had a working kitchen to cook in………this morning, as I write to you, I feel like a whole world has been reawakened to me and even now I have a hundred ideas in my head”

So, go and try some of those ideas - book a table at Spring!
