We were honoured when The Prince’s Trust asked us to design and fit a kitchen for The Prince’s House, the centerpiece of the 2012 Ideal Home Show. The Prince’s House set out to demonstrate that mid-priced houses could be made from predominately UK-sourced, environmentally sustainable materials and designed in a simple, vernacular manner. The Trust wanted to use joinery that would last as long as the house did, and painted cupboards that could easily be refreshed with a lick of paint and a change of ironmongery fitted the brief. In effect a kitchen that could stand the test of time without harming the environment or the bank balance. It was here that we launched the British Standard brand.
